“Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ…” – 2 Corinthians 5:20 (NKJV)
I’ve always admired the curriculum vitae (CV) of ambassadors. The idea of being selected to represent your nation on foreign soil is truly an honour. As children of God, we are called to be ambassadors. The great honour for us is that we are called to represent the King of the Kingdom of God. Jesus himself was an ambassador. He was an ambassador of heaven who proclaimed the Truth at all times. Jesus’ life on earth is a perfect example of an ambassador of the Kingdom of God.
I encourage you to meditate on the book of Matthew to grasp how a representative of the Kingdom must live and speak. As Kingdom citizens, believers are mandated to take the Kingdom of God to others. Jesus said, “I must preach the Kingdom of God to other cities also, because for this purpose I have been sent.” – Luke 4:43 (NKJV). As we ponder upon our assignment, let us always remember which kingdom we represent since other kingdoms could be vying for our attention. Recognise that men establish those kingdoms and that of the enemy. Just as we cannot serve two masters, we cannot represent two kingdoms.
Mark 16:15 (NKJV) admonishes us to “Go into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature.” But do we always need to leave our homeland to find the world? The world has become such a village that in many, if not all nations, the peoples of the world can be found in one country. Don’t let us formulate excuses! The world is right in our homes, communities, workplaces, schools, hospitals, and prisons. Present the kingdom to them!
Ambassadors, learn to overcome all fears when challenges confront us. God never gives an assignment without providing the means for success. All that we need is in the kingdom and flows from above. In Numbers 14:11 (NKJV), God asked, “…How long will these people reject Me?…how long will they not believe Me…?” Trust Him; He’s already provided!
